An Introduction to the 313 EOSS

The chapter held a membership luncheon in December. After a meal provided by the Ramstein Officers' Club, Col. Robin Gibson, USAF, chapter president, opened the event by presenting awards to Airman 1st Class Ian Spaulding, USAF, Young AFCEAN Emerging Leader; Rashmi Patel, Outstanding Cycle 4 STEM Sponsorship; 1st Lt. Joel Stiffler, USAF, Distinguished Young AFCEAN; and Tech. Sgt. Nathaniel Juarez, USAF, Meritorious Rising Star. Guest speaker Lt. Col. Brad Bowyer, USAF, commander, 313th Expeditionary Operations Support Squadron (313 EOSS), introduced AFCEA members to the unit's mission. The 313 EOSS provides global reach through passenger and cargo transportation as well as aeromedical evacuation. The EOSS relies on the Global Decision Support System (GDSS) II enclave. The $5.5 million system is the squadron's primary means of logistics command and control. Cyber technicians such as Tech. Sgt. Jonathan Cissna, USAF, are essential to ensure that the mission continues uninterrupted. Sgt. Cissna's team manages the enclave while continually seeking efficiency and security solutions.
