SAN DIEGO CHAPTER CHAPTER - Dec 19, 2017 |
Chapter Collects Donations for Toys for Tots |
Continuing a tradition began two decades ago by past President Dave Grundies, the chapter held its December luncheon at the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Miramar Officers' Club. More than 70 participants brought gifts for a Toys for Tots drive and gave them to the Marine sentries who were "guarding" the entrance. The luncheon featured speaker Col. Jason Woodworth, USMC, commanding officer of MCAS Miramar, who covered various topics related to the base and San Diego, including energy self-sufficiency, water use, firefighting and future integration of electric vehicles and driverless technology. Participants also enjoyed the 10-year tradition of the holiday poem reading by AFCEA Regional Vice President Shirley Adams, who reworded "The Night Before Christmas" to honor the contributions of last year's chapter executive committee. |
