FORT KNOX GOLD VAULT CHAPTER CHAPTER - Mar 15, 2018 |
Army Human Resources Command Leader Emphasizes Readiness |
The chapter hosted its first general membership meeting of the year in March, sponsored by SAIC, at Fort Knox's Saber & Quill. Maj. Gen. Jason T. Evans, USA, commanding general, U.S. Army Human Resources Command (HRC), was the keynote speaker. The event began with Chapter President Miguel Rivera speaking about chapter goals, including providing scholarships to outstanding local students who intend to study a STEM field in college; providing grants to outstanding STEM teachers; increasing the number of female members, among others; and continuing to provide excellent professional development and networking opportunities. Rivera introduced Gen. Evans, who took the podium and was greeted by the audience with a great round of applause. The general spoke a little about his career and then followed with his excitement to be there. The AFCEA community must recognize its impact on global security and incorporate input from industry and academia, he emphasized. "Our most precious resource is our people," Gen. Evans said. He thanked everyone in attendance for committing to innovation in technology and stressed the importance of thoughtful precision in talent management. The general concluded by saying that everyone must be focused on readiness and taking care of soldiers and their families. General membership meetings and other chapter events are excellent opportunities for members and their colleagues to get together, get to know one another, meet new fellow professionals, gain industry knowledge and contribute to their professional community.
