C4ISR Cyber Panel Brings Government and Industry Together

The chapter held its third annual C4ISR Cyber Panel in March at the Water's Edge Events Center in Belcamp, Maryland. This highly anticipated event featured an interactive discussion with renowned members of the Aberdeen Proving Ground (APG) command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) and cyber community, including Col. Bryan J. Stephens, USA, director of the Army's Cyber Focal, Army System of Systems Engineering and Integration, panel chair; Portia Crowe, chief of cyber engineering and operations, U.S. Army Program Executive Office (PEO) Command, Control, Communications-Tactical (C3T); Mike Monteleone, acting director, Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC) Space and Terrestrial Communications Directorate; and Giorgio Bertoli, senior scientific technology manager, Army Intelligence and Information Warfare Directorate (I2WD). Each panelist gave a brief presentation, discussing such topics as cyber in supply chain management, information trust, deterrence and decoys in defensive cyber operations, architecture and effects development for offensive cyber operations, and secure network modernization. These presentations were followed by a question-and-answer session that allowed members of the AFCEA community to engage with panelists and better understand the issues facing their respective agencies. By facilitating discussions between government and industry, this event enables members to work hand in hand with APG to present innovative technology that can take its cyber operations to the next level. The chapter thanks panelists as well as SIGNAL Magazine for covering the event.
