SOUTHERN ARIZONA CHAPTER CHAPTER - Mar 22, 2007

In March, Hervey Martin-Rude, senior test officer, Intelligence Electronic Warfare Test Directorate (IEWTD), discussed operational realism in counter-improvised explosive device (IED) testing. He described how Yuma Proving Ground at Fort Huachuca and the IEWTD have joined forces to provide better equipment to the solider faster. He said this mission is accomplished by rapid test and evaluation, strategic partnerships, and shared intelligence and information. In addition, he stated that rapid reaction support to war fighters helping save lives, and noted that sustaining a flexible, innovative and dedicated workforce ensures keeping pace with counterterrorism science and technology. Additionally, Martin-Rude asserted that establishing adaptable state-of-the-art capabilities will accommodate future test and evaluation, and he stressed the need for expertise and management structure to execute rapidly while maintaining high quality. Martin-Rude concluded by saying, 'This is a tough environment. The reality is that we're at war. Our customers are our soldiers.'
