PALMETTO CHAPTER CHAPTER - Nov 07, 2018 |
Warfighters' Guide to Cybersecurity |
Anthony Pierce, a CISCO investigator working for the Special Operator Joint Special Operation Command, conducted the chapter's November Lunch and Learn. He talked about how communication is key on the battlefield, whether it is a physical battlefield or in cyberspace. Pierce highlighted common communications techniques in the DOD battlespace that cross boundaries with cyberspace. 'We tend to think everyone speaks our language but we do not, which in cybersecurity would be a gap in our security posture," he said. In Afghanistan and Iraq, we learned that when we started putting translators with the warfighters, we start to understand the culture and the different terms, which is what the cyber warfighter needs in cyberspace, Pierce continued. The luncheon enhanced the attendees understanding of communication key points in cybersecurity that are needed in both battle space areas to execute the mission faster. |
