Panelists Share Perspectives on Culture and Technology |
The chapter held its annual U.S. Army luncheon in February. Panelists included Col. (P) Jeth Rey, USA, director of operations, G-3, U.S. Army Cyber Command; Col. Nora Marcos, USA, chief of staff, Network Cross-Functional Team; Col. Wade Johnston, USA, division chief, Network and Space Integration, chief information officer/G-6; and Col. Carl Young, USA, chief, Architecture and Data Division, chief information officer/G-6. The panel was moderated by Francis Rose, host of Government Matters. Our panelists shared their perspectives on how culture and technology are connected as leaders focus on improving military readiness. Chapter President Dina Flynn presented Homer Betts with the STEM Teacher of the Quarter Award. As the Phelps' Cisco Academy instructor, Betts gives his all to students on a daily basis. Betts holds a bachelor's degree in biology and chemistry, a master's degree in computer engineering information from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a master's in systems management from the University of Phoenix, and a doctorate in computer science from Colorado Technical University. Additionally, Betts is the Phelps Robotics Team coach, supports National Society of Black Engineers Chapter, Vex Robotics and Girls Who Code Club. An avid supporter of all things STEM, he offers support to other community-based STEM clubs in the D.C. metro region. Betts is also a U.S. Army veteran-Hooah! |
