In June, the chapter's Young AFCEAN Council led an appreciation trip for their members to both the Stuttgart Porsche and Mercedes Benz Museums in Stuttgart, Germany. Seventeen members and their guests explored the rich histories of these two German automotive companies, while also previewing the technology and innovation for the future consumer. The Porsche Museum focused on the history they have built and exhibited a simulator for those would-be racers who wanted to try their luck behind the virtual wheel of their most powerful machines. The Mercedes Benz Museum also focused on history but had a wider range of categories of vehicles in their inventory. The later part of the tour highlighted concepts of technology, which tap the potential of solar panels, ergonomic doors, steering wheels and even seat configurations. While some of the concepts may not be seen in production for some time, if ever, members were amazed at the drive for innovation and technology in the automotive market. |
