The chapter remembered one of its most ardent supporters, Col. Fredric Scheyd, USAF (Ret.), former regional vice president, who passed away. Col. Scheyd was a huge guiding force in the growth of the chapter to over 600 annual members and large-scale conferences associated with the military base community. Scheyd could be seen at every monthly luncheon with a wave and a smile for attendees. He was always an active chapter member, an ever-present supporter at luncheons and events and a mentor, friend and sage voice of wisdom to many of the chapter leadership over the past 30 years. Although he was heavily involved with a number of business, government and civic groups, Scheyd was instrumental in reinvigorating the chapter in the late 1980s/early 1990s, working with a core group of notable base and civic leaders when he arrived at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. Scheyd was chapter president from 1996-98, InfoTech chair in 2001-02 and later, regional vice president until stepping down in 2016. In 2015 he was named honorary director emeritus of the chapter. |
