Young AFCEANs Network at Preseason Game

In August, leadership from every Young AFCEA chapter in the National Capital Region came out to the last preseason game for the Washington Redskins where they faced local rival, the Baltimore Ravens. While the evening did not end well for the Redskins, the Young AFCEANs from Bethesda, Maryland; Fort Belvoir, Virginia; Washington D.C.; and Northern Virginia had a great opportunity to network with representatives from different chapters as well as leadership from AFCEA International. Throughout the time at FedEx Field, the AFCEAN crew discussed cross-chapter and regional programs, interacted with various other organizations, and even had the opportunity to take photos with nonactive players such as four-time Pro Bowl linebacker Ryan Kerrigan. This event was organized through the efforts of the Keith Weldon, vice president of hospitality for the Washington Redskins, and Alvie Johnson, regional vice president, National Capital Region, in a bid to increase both groups' community outreach and engagement. Thanks to their efforts, a new mutually beneficial relationship has been founded and will continue to grow. Additional thanks goes out to Tina Jordan, vice president of membership at AFCEA International, for supporting this event and the budding affiliation between our organizations.
