ABERDEEN CHAPTER CHAPTER - Oct 30, 2019 |
CCDC Deputy Emphasizes Importance of Army Modernization Efforts |
In October, the chapter was joined by John Willison, deputy to the commanding general (DtCG) for the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC), formerly known as the Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM). As the DtCG, Willison provides strategic direction for CCDC, serving as a catalyst for research, development, and engineering initiatives across the command. Willison discussed the biggest focus of CCDC right now: the Army Modernization Strategy. At the Association for the U.S. Army (AUSA) conference in 2017, the chief of staff of the Army announced the creation of the six modernization priorities, which served as the backbone for creation of the new four-star command Army Futures Command (AFC). With the creation of AFC came the set up of the Cross-Functional Teams to help engage with Industry on the fulfillment of these new priorities. Willison reinforced the idea of unity of command and effort, as well as multidomain operations, all major goals of the modernization effort. This major undertaking will provide a new level of responsiveness and agility, allowing the Army to create, integrate, and upgrade technology and systems to aid our Army forces both on and off the battlefield. Willison was well-received at the luncheon, and his presentation was rounded out by a small business presentation from AnaVation LLC. |
