Aaron Weis, the newly appointed U.S. Navy chief information officer, discussed his priorities and challenges during a fireside chat with Marjorie Censer, editor/fill-in host for Inside Defense/Government Matters. Among those priorities are cybersecurity, innovation, and the U.S. Defense Department's planned Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program. The luncheon also included a panel, which featured Brian Burns, deputy chief information officer, U.S. Coast Guard; Joseph Salazar, director, Enterprise Policy Management, U.S. Navy; David Schiff, deputy director, NavalX Agility Cell; and James Trahan, deputy assistant chief of staff, G-3, Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory/Futures Directorate.
