The chapter hosted its spring kickoff with a Young AFCEAN Power Breakfast in March. The quarterly events brings together younger chapter members with senior leadership from the community to share views and network. The March speaker was Maj. Gen. H. Brent Baker, USAF (Ret.). Baker retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2015, and his final assignment was as vice commander, Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC), Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. The command employs some 80,000 people and manages $60 billion annually in research, development, test and evaluation, while providing the acquisition management services and logistics support required to develop, procure and sustain Air Force weapon systems. In addition, he directed policy and procedures affecting AFMC aircraft maintenance, munitions, supply, logistics plans, transportation and packaging methods, and logistics data systems. Finally, as the staff lead for logistics and life-cycle sustainment issues, Gen. Baker planned and coordinated product support and acquisition logistics for fielded and emerging Air Force weapon systems. |
