SOUTH FLORIDA CHAPTER CHAPTER - May 10, 2007 |
The May luncheon honored five outstanding South Florida students who were awarded scholarships of $4,000 each to the following: Allison Chan of Deerfield Beach High School; Diana Ellis of American Heritage School; Jeffrey Greene of Northeast High School; Maria Quintanilla of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University; and Emmanuel Rodriguez of Everglades High School. Col. Herb Newman, USA, chapter president, said, "Our Young AFCEAN panel picked these five exceptional and deserving students from a large number of qualified candidates, and we know they will make us proud as they develop into our nation's future leaders." The luncheon was highlighted by a keynote speech by Dr. Ben A. Amaba, Global Executive Software Group, on the higher education opportunities available in the sciences and engineering, the forecasted shortage of trained engineers in industry and the challenges that engineering colleges face with enrollment. |
