CZECH CHAPTER CHAPTER - May 01, 2020 |
Chapter Members Hold Webinars To Help Those on the Front Lines |
Recently, the traditional world has changed dramatically and very quickly. The conditions for the activities of the association have also changed. Emergencies, quarantines and other measures do not allow for the organization of traditional events. Governments and entire societies are justifiably focused on saving lives and supporting people on the front line. We also must adapt to survive and offer members and partners with services that match tradition, knowledge and capabilities. Modern companies are already dependent on information and communications technology (ICT), and now are even more reliant (working from home, video conferencing, reliance on advanced technologies, technologies in the healthcare sector, etc.). Unfortunately, this dependence carries a number of risks. We must be more cautious, knowledgeable and prepared. We need to work together and help people and institutions for whom ICT is needed, but not as a core business. Examples of best practices include chapter activities, which, in early March transferred mostly to the virtual world. The chapter members regularly organize educational webinars for experts from critical infrastructure and from the front line about current threats, vulnerabilities and coping strategies. Together with EUROPOL EC3, European Agency ENISA and a number of state organizations, members of the Cyber Security Working Group have also been involved in awareness-raising campaigns for ordinary citizens, teachers and students, explaining not only how to use ICT properly when working from home, but also how to prevent potential risks. Online discussions to exchange practical experience in managing current cyber threats and crisis management are ongoing. In the last six weeks, the chapter has addressed more than 1,000 experts and millions of citizens, organized more than 20 webinars and published many publications and recommendations. The chapter continues to prepare activities for when it can meet again in person. Some future activities may include discussions and evaluations of COVID-19 experiences and the best solutions moving forward. Together we can do it! |
