Chapter Signs First Agreement With Municipal Government

The Galapagos Islands, officially the Colón Archipelago, are located in an archipelago in the Pacific Ocean, 1,000 km off the coast of Ecuador. The area is comprised of 13 large islands with an area greater than 10 km², nine medium-sized islands with an area of 1 km² to 10 km² and another 107 small islets.

In October, chapter officers met the mayor of the Autonomous Decentralized Municipal Government GAD of San Cristóbal Canton. The chapter signed an agreement to establish a collaboration framework to provide advice and training to the Municipal Government in risk management and multidimensional security and education under the STEM methodology.

The first agreement-Interinstitutional Cooperation Framework Agreement Between the Decentralized Autonomous Municipal Government of San Cristóbal and AFCEA International Chapter Cantón-Ecuador-was signed. This is an important milestone generated in the management of our Regional Insular or Galapagos.

'The main purpose of this Agreement is to establish a collaboration framework through which AFCEA Ecuador will provide advice and training to the Municipal Government in risk management and multidimensional security. Likewise, it will also train and advise educational institutions that are part of the Municipal Government in education under the STEM methodology (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).'

The meeting was held in Quito, the capital of Ecuador. María Dolores Santos, chapter president, gave a welcome message to the mayor and discussed the situation in San Cristóbal regarding Internet connection and education. Henry Cobos Zavala and Santos both signed the agreement.
