The chapter welcomed Laurence Mixon, special assistant to the Program Executive Office for Intelligence, Electronic Warfare and Sensors (PEO IEW&S) at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, to share his unique insights on the IEW&S portfolio.
Mixon engaged industry professionals, government and community attendees, highlighting specific initiatives the seven project managers were designing, delivering and sustaining to provide a persistent view of the battlefield to protect aircrew from enemy threats. Mixon explained several programs, including effective long-range precision fires, tactical space capability enablers, cross-portfolio capability development and artificial intelligence machine learning. Mixon also discussed the PEO's commitment to transparency and industry engagement through three initiatives. The first was the development of an open innovation lab. This unclassified facility enables academia, industry, government and other organizations to collaborate on Army positioning, navigation and timing future capabilities and solutions in a nongovernmentally owned building to access and share information and solutions real time across the PEO. Second, Mixon encouraged participation in the hosted ALT Session to provide updates on future opportunities. And lastly, one on one meetings with the PEO and project managers continue to share contracts and priorities.
