Young AFCEANs Enjoy an Evening With PEO IEWS

In February, the chapter's Young AFCEANs hosted their second event in a new series of virtual Leadership Forums, spending An Evening with PEO IEWS. Hosted on the Microsoft Teams platform after hours, this interactive event featured a panel discussion led by Tamera Rush, president and CEO of Tenax Technologies, and featured thoughts from Mark Kitz, deputy program executive officer (PEO) for the Intelligence, Electronic Warfare, and Sensors (IEWS) division; Col. Senodja Frank Sundiata-Walker, USA, the program manager for biometrics; and Kyle Perkins, chief of staff for IEWS.

The panelists offered our young professionals personal anecdotes and advice on such topics as creating value in an organization through leadership, developing talent, fostering leadership throughout all levels of an organization, finding mentors, striking a work-life balance in the COVID environment and engaging with professional associations to build skills and networks.

Following the moderated discussions, our attendees had the chance to speak in small groups with each one of our panelists through the Teams breakout rooms feature, which allowed them to ask their own questions. This event proved to be yet another success for the Young AFCEANs programming and will be followed by another discussion with members of the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command and the Army Chief Information Officer/G-6 in April.
