Chapter Awards STEM Grants and Gives Back at Holiday Mixer

In December, the chapter held its annual Holiday Mixer at the Beardmore Event Center in Bellevue, Nebraska. This is an event in which the chapter gives back to the membership, sponsors and chapter supporters. The pinnacle of the mixer was the chapter's award of STEM grants to area educators.

The event was co-sponsored by GDIT, Sterling and TEK Systems.

In December, Col. Larry Fletcher, USAF (l), chapter president, presents the big check to Steve Hamersky, high school teacher of science, computer programming, robotics and engineering, Daniel J. Gross High School, Bellevue, Nebraska. Hamersky will procure drones and microcontrollers for use in STEM courses, extra-curricular programs and summer camps.

In December, Col. Fletcher presents the big check to Angela Daughtrey, high school teacher of precalculus, calculus, advanced placement math, Bellevue West High School, Bellevue, Nebraska. Daughtrey is building a puzzle library with store-bought STEM puzzles as well as homemade ones that will not only be used in her classroom, but also can be used by other teachers/students in the math and science department.
