Members Celebrate the Season at Year-end Dinner in Rome

In December, the chapter held its traditional end-of-the-year dinner in the restaurant on the roof of Hotel Bernini Bristol with an awesome view of the center of Rome. This yearly event allows chapter members to exchange season's greetings with the executive board, the Technical Committee, the Probiviri and representatives from industry, military and academic institutions.

In his speech at the end of the dinner, Lt. Gen. Antonio Tangorra, ITAF (Ret.), summarized the main activities carried out in 2021, underlining the restoration of in-person events and the chapter's important achievements despite COVID-19. In particular, the president mentioned the awards received from AFCEA International both at an individual level, with Marco Braccioli winning the Meritorious Service Award, and at the chapter level, with the Model Chapter Program Award and the Albert J. Meyer Chapter Awards: Individual Member Growth, Individual Member Retention, Individual Member Recruiting and Special Recognition. All awards were presented during TechNet Cyber 2021.

Finally, Gen. Tangorra illustrated the two II level masters funded by the Rome Chapter, each with three scholarships for the Italian Army, Navy and Air Force respectively: "Engineering and International Space Law in Satellite Communications, Navigation and Sensing Systems" was held February 2020-January 2021 at the University of Rome Tor Vergata. "Optics and Quantum Information" was held February 2020-January 2021 at the University of Roma La Sapienza.
