ALAMO CHAPTER CHAPTER - Feb 19, 2022 |
Alamo Chapter Sponsors the 2022 San Antonio Mayor's Cyber Cup |
The chapter was pleased to support the first in-person San Antonio Mayor's Cyber Cup since the pandemic. The chapter sponsors this Cyber Texas Foundation event, and this year it was able to present three big-check scholarship donations to the winners of the Best All-Female Middle School, Best All-Female High School and the Service Division awards. Lt. Gen. Timothy Haugh, USAF, commander, Sixteenth Air Force, and commander, Air Forces Cyber, explained to the teams and attendees that the military has a vested interest in this competition as the vulnerabilities faced today will continue. Today's Airmen are doing the same things by providing secure networks for every element of the Air Force's network. "We have seen that you all are able to do that as well, so continue to be curious. Whether or not you stay in cyber, what you've learned here with regard to teamwork and communication will set you up for success in other challenges." Lt. Gen. John Evans, USA, commanding general, Army North, explained that the nation is in competition with people that don't believe the same things, and this nation has never faced competition like this before. "In our future, these young men and women working cyber today will be integral to our survival in cyberspace tomorrow ... that is your challenge." The chapter congratulates all of the teams, mentors, coaches and parents that participated in this year's event. |
