On behalf of the chapter's board of directors, many thanks to all who attended the 2022 Scholarship Awards Luncheon sponsored by JR Morell and DataRobot and featuring Col. Craig Smith, USA, chief information officer, U.S. Southern Command, J-6.
The 2021 TopGolf Tournament sponsors in attendance were recognized for their valuable support to the program: Microsoft, Venatôre, General Dynamics Information Technology, Meridian Partners and Guardian Cyber LLC.
Four of the six awardees were presented scholarship checks for $500.
In his remarks, Col. Smith congratulated the chapter on this important program supporting STEM Scholarship. He reminded attendees that technology has come a long way in just a short time, from using 60+ pounds manpack radios just 30 years ago to today's palm-sized smartphones.
Such leaps in innovation were made possible through STEM education and initiatives. The 2022 STEM scholarship awardees will be part of shaping the new technology over the next 30 years. Congratulations again to all 2022 awardees: Amaya J., Pembroke Pines, Florida, accepted to Florida State University; Emily F., Miami, accepted to Santa Fe College; Keinsley Z., North Miami, Florida, accepted to Syracuse University; Melanie J., Miami Lakes, Florida, accepted to Cornell University; Sydney S., Homestead, Florida, accepted to University of Florida; and Sydney T., Hollywood, Florida, accepted to Barry University.
The chapter thanks Col. Smith, event sponsor DataRobot and table sponsors Microsoft and Cyabra.
