The sixth national finals of the Czech Republic's Cyber Security Student Competition, organized by the AFCEA Cyber Security Working Group and a wide range of state, academic and professional organizations, took place in May this year in Pilsen, Czech Republic.
The final was attended by 42 of the best male and female students from primary, secondary and higher schools in the Czech Republic, who competed in three age categories. Nearly 5,500 students made their way to the final by successfully completing two online elimination rounds.
As part of the competition's national final, a four-hour live studio broadcast featured interviews with cybersecurity and information and communication technology experts. The recording of the broadcast is available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6Vcw2hlAh0.
All the finalists demonstrated excellent knowledge. Peter Melnicek, Masaryk University in Brno, scored 3,120 points and was the overall winner and the winner of the over-20 category. Patrik Vacal from Western University of Pilsen, received 3,065 basic and 75 bonus points. He won in the junior category of students under the age of 15. Vojtech Cepicka, Grammar School Ricany, received 2,142 basic points and 55 bonus points.

The cybersecurity summer school will once again take place in Brno. Twenty-five finalists will be invited to participate. The summer school program is organized in cooperation with KYPO of Masaryk University in Brno, with the University of Defense in Brno and other state, academic and nonprofit organizations. The summer school will not only include a program aimed at deepening students' knowledge but also gaining new experience in teamwork.
