The Communication and Information Systems Agency, in cooperation with the chapter and under the auspices of the Communication and Information Systems Division of the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic (MoD CIS), organized the sixth annual Conference of the Signal Corps of the Army of the Czech Republic in Lipník nad Bečvou June 15-16, 2022.

On the first day, the conference was opened by Brig. Gen. Šnajdárek, director of the MoD CIS, together with Vladimír Dzurilla, director of the National Agency for Communication and Information Technologies. The directors delivered an introductory speech on the topic of cooperation between the Czech Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic in times of pandemic and refugee crisis.

Subsequently, the Deputy Director of MoD CIS Col. Hubálek informed attendees about the development plan of the Communication and Information Systems Division of the Czech Republic in the coming years and the needs and opportunities for industrial cooperation. This was followed by expert sessions focused on decision support and command using artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and other topical issues. The first day of the conference was closed with a round table with representatives of the Czech Army, collective members of AFCEA and academia of the Czech Republic. Discussions were held on how to jointly contribute to strengthening the capabilities of the Signal Corps and the Czech Armed Forces' current complex security situation. The participants also discussed how to ensure the generational renewal of the Signal Corps and support the identification and education of specialists in technical professions.

The conference's second day took place in the training area of the Bečva military area. Dynamic, live demonstrations of technology included the state-of-the-art STARKOM electronic warfare system, a mobile command post of the Czech Police, demonstrations of drones and advanced applications and systems based on artificial intelligence.

Representatives of users, technology suppliers and academia discussed their needs, possibilities and the technical challenges associated with the use of modern information and communications technologies in combat conditions.

As in previous years, the conference was highly rated by attendees in terms of expertise and as a unique opportunity for the AFCEA community to meet in a field-based military environment.
