Chapter Presents Student Activities and Research and Development Projects at Meeting

The chapter participated in the sixth annual Student Clubs Meeting in September at the Portuguese Military Institute University (IUM) with representatives from government, industry and academia to share information and opportunities about defense research and development. Participants included Rear Adm. Albuquerque e Sousa, on behalf of the commander of the Naval Academy, Lt. Pessanha Santos, professor and faculty adviser, and other professors, as well as students.

Cadet Beirao Amador, chapter president, presented several club activities. Two student club members' projects were presented by Cadet Mota Gomes and by Cadet Matilde Vieira. One project involved the use of autonomous vessels in the Portuguese Navy in the performance of missions involving different scopes. Another involved the development of the integration of a landing support system for unmanned aerial vehicles on ships.

These presentations were followed by a lively debate on the topics presented, moderated by Jose Borges, Portuguese Military Academy professor and Portugal Chapter vice president.
