In October, in cooperation with the Czech Chapter, TechNet Europe was held in Prague over a two-day period.
Tina Jordan, vice president of Membership at AFCEA International, was in attendance and recognized several outstanding volunteers from the Czech and Slovak Chapters. The volunteers were nominated by Petr Jirásek, regional vice president for the Central Eastern Europe Region; Tomáš Müller, AFCEA Czech Chapter president; and Miroslav Brvnišťan, AFCEA Slovak Chapter president, for their tremendous support of AFCEA.
The nominees were the following: Lt. Gen. Jiri Baloun, CZAF, an honorary vice president of the Czech Chapter, an AFCEA member since 2005 and a Life Member since 2018. Gen. Baloun actively supported many local AFCEA events and activities. He is the holder of the AFCEA Regional Medal of Merit Award.
Lt. Gen. Jan Kase is an honorary vice president of the Czech chapter. He has been an AFCEA member since 2002 and a Life Member since 2018. He actively supported many local and regional AFCEA events and activities, including AFCEA TechNet International and AFCEA TechNet Europe.
Col. Josef Strelec is an honorary president of the Czech Chapter who has been an AFCEA member since 2000. He was chapter president from 2010 to 2016, and in this role, he organized and coordinated many national and regional AFCEA events and activities. Col. Strelec is the holder of the AFCEA Meritorious Service Award and AFCEA Medal of Merit.
Col. Ladislav Kollarik, Slovak Armed Forces (Ret.), has been an AFCEA member since 2002 and is one of the Slovak Chapter's co-founders. For the past 20 years, he has been the first vice president of the Slovak Chapter, functioning as chapter program director. Col. Kollarik organized more than 20 international and many national professional events helping to extend AFCEA's name and reputation. In addition, he is actively involved in many AFCEA regional activities. Col. Kollárik holds many distinguished national and military awards and AFCEA national, regional and international awards, including the AFCEA Medal of Merit.
The nominees were given Certificates of Appreciation. Jordan then asked Jirasek to join her for the presentation of two Regional Meritorious Service Awards. These award winners were nominated by Müller and Brvnišťan and endorsed and approved by Jirasek.
Col. Roman Kytka (Ret.) is chairman of the board of directors of InterWay a.s. Col. Kytka is a long-term and active supporter of the AFCEA Slovak Chapter, and at present, he is a member of the chapter board.
Lt. Col. Zbyšek Weiss, Army of Czech Republic (Ret.), is a member of the Czech Chapter board of directors. He has been an AFCEA member since 2013. He is very active in the field of C4I and helps to organize one of the most important annual chapter events, "Field Signal Corps Conference."
