In July, the chapter organized an event titled "The Cyber Capabilities in Multidomain Operations," to explore the innovations shaping the development of cyber warfare and the impact of technologies developed for high availability, encryption and cybersecurity solutions.
After a welcome by Lt. Gen. Antonio Tangorra, ITAF (Ret.), chapter president, and Lt. Gen Angelo Gervasio, general manager of Teledife Directorate, various military and industry speakers gave remarkable speeches.
Maj. Giuseppe Amodio, Teledife Directorate, presented "Tools To Counter the Cyber Threat." He outlined the directorate's activities to provide operational entities with technologically advanced tools for use in countering the cyber threat.
Nicola Grandis, Digital Platforms, discussed "Multi-Domain Scenarios: Multidomain Resilience: Artificial Intelligence (AI) To Defend Yourself in Multi-Domain scenarios and Counterattack Effectively." She provided an overview of the contribution of AI in the said scenarios.
Fulvio Risso and Marco Mangiulli, Aruba S.p.A., presented "LIQO & ArubaKube, the Cloud Continuum Made Real." LiQO is a promising open-source project originally created at the Polytechnic University of Turin and now taken over by a dedicated company, ArubaKube, that enables the creation of cloud-native virtual infrastructures, facilitating the sharing of resources and services present in different clusters, even in different cloud providers.
Col. Carlo Mongelli, IAF, Italian Air Force Logistic Command, discussed "Cybersecurity in IAF: How To Approach Multidomain Operations."
Andrea Conti, Leonardo, presented "Augmented Situational Awareness and Multidomain," saying the company is integrating into its platforms and methodologies for developing an interagency "directorate" that can be the linking and synchronization element of military operations in the various domains.
The presentations resumed after the coffee break with Capt. Daniele Sangermano, Net Operations Command, who talked about "Generation of Offensive Cyber Effects in Multidomain operations."
Paolo Conforto, Thales Alenia Space Italy, gave an overview of "Quantum Distribution Of Cryptographic Keys for Secure Telecommunications."
Pietro Felisi, Barracuda Networks, presented "IoT Security: How To Raise the Level of Protection in the Face of New Scenarios." Felisi said that a survey of more than 1,000 companies found that security practices in these increasingly important environments lag behind other aspects of information security. Now is the time to be fully aware of the threat and the mandatory steps to protect the businesses.
Daniela Pistoia, Elettronica, discussed "Electronic Warfare and Cyber Warfare: Two Sides of the Same Coin." She talked about how to get the right information from backup data to deal with threats in both reactive and proactive modes to helpful recover quickly, safely and surely from a cyber attack and improve the security posture.
Stefano Penna, NIDO, gave the speech "AppSec Synopsys: Your Application Security in One Solution."
Franco Braun, Rubrik Italia, outlined the approach of the company in "How To Recover Quickly, Safely and Securely While Keeping Data Safe and Resilient."
In the end, Gen. Tangorra thanked all speakers and participants and looked forward to the next event.
