ERIE CANAL CHAPTER CHAPTER - Aug 24, 2023

Chapter Hosts a Fitness Event To Support STEM

During the months of April to August, the chapter hosted a fun event to help people get fit while supporting a good cause: the chapter's Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) scholarship fund. Participants were asked to walk/run/bike for a distance of 363 miles, the length of the Erie Canal. The Erie Canal was, and still is, an engineering marvel of New York state, so it is quite fitting that the chapter used the money raised to support young students pursuing STEM Scholarships. The participants were: Chris Garlin, Sheena Mauldin, Clare Thiem, Rebecca Robbins, Alexandra Luchsinger, Nicole Green and Nancy Sepulveda. Other supporters included: Aleksey Panasyuk, Walt Gadz, Gene Blackburn, Chris McKee and Juan Sepulveda. Special thanks to Yelena Panasyuk for designing the T-shirt. The group met up at Copper City Brewery to give out the T-shirts and donate a profit of $254.36 to the scholarship fund.
