In September, the Czech Cybersecurity Working Group of AFCEA (CCSWG) held the 12th edition of the Cybersecurity Conference, which also marked the celebration of 25 years of collaboration between CCSWG (and AFCEA) and the Police Academy of the Czech Republic in Prague, as well as the celebration of the 100th physical event of the working group.
On this occasion, Petr Jirasek, chairperson of CCSWG and regional vice president of Central Eastern Europe, and Chapter President Tomas Muller, honored the supporters of AFCEA, active members of the working group and long-term partners of CCSWG by presenting them with certificates of appreciation.
At the suggestion of Jirasek, the chapter council approved and awarded the silver AFCEA Medal of Merit to Brig. Gen. David Dlouhý (Ret.), the rector of the Police Academy of the Czech Republic in Prague, and Lukas Kintr, director of the National Cyber and Information Security Agency.
Muller also honored Jirasek with the gold AFCEA Medal of Merit based on the decision of the chapter council, thanking him for his long-standing contribution to AFCEA and the field of cybersecurity. Jirasek also introduced his successor, Michal Zednicek, who will take over the leadership of the working group in December.
During the professional part of the conference, several professionals in cybersecurity and information security spoke, including representatives from the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology, who presented current plans in the field of post-quantum cryptography. The professional program also included a report on the state of cybersecurity in the Czech Republic, presented by the director of NÚKIB, Lukas Kintr, and a presentation on the implementation status of NIS2 into Czech legislation, presented by a representative of NCISA.
