In October, the chapter organized the conference titled, "Development of the Turkish Defense Industry," presented by Nevzat Çaglayan.
During the conference, audience members learned the history of development of the Turkish defense industry, starting from the Ottoman Empire, in line with developments within the scope of international policies shaped after the Turkish Republic period and world wars. The development of Turkiye's national defense industry gained momentum with the problems encountered in the 1974 Cyprus Peace Operation and the effects of the subsequent arms embargoes.
With this momentum, the Turkish defense industry, which has grown, especially in the last 20 years, has reached a level that competes with the leading countries of the world today.
The chapter is grateful to Çaglayan, who summarized his presentation with the words of the great leader Ataturk: "Great works, important breakthroughs can only be achieved by working together. Work together for our nation, not for yourselves. This is the most valuable of works." The chapter thanks Caglayan for sharing his experiences and knowledge and providing important opinions and information to stakeholders and young students on this subject.
