Luncheon Features Health Care in the Age of AI

The chapter lined up industry leaders to include keynote speaker, Dr. David Rhew, global chief medical officer at Microsoft; John Larson, executive vice president, artificial intelligence (AI) practice lead at Booz Allen; and Dr. Mike Uohara, chief medical informatics officer at Booz Allen Hamilton. A panel discussion was held with all speakers and SAIC's director of data science, Shweta Mulcare, discussing the impact of artificial intelligence in the health care spectrum.

The conversations highlighted exploration of high impact/low risk use cases aimed at improving outcomes and processes without risking patient safety, how to operationalize responsible AI principles within your organization and the health care industry, as well as best practices to build AI systems that rapidly transition from lab to production and accelerate time to impact using real-world case studies.

The panelists showcased how health care agencies are embracing mission-centric AI to transform health care operations and care delivery with an emphasis on AI engineering at scale. Challenges and trade-offs with generative AI, including interplay between accuracy and imagination, standardization of outcomes and reliability were also discussed. The speakers also explored the art of ensuring AI fosters creativity and innovation in problem-solving while also producing genuine information.
