In March, the chapter and its Emerging Leaders hosted a first-ever inspiring and engaging event: AFCEA Tea Time. This unique gathering occurred at The English Rose Tea Room in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where professionals from various fields engaged in meaningful discussions over a delightful spread of teas and treats.
The event provided a relaxed yet stimulating environment where attendees explored key topics essential to professional and personal growth. Discussions were structured around five fundamental themes: ResponsibiliTY, AuthenticiTY, TenaciTY, IngenuiTY and CreativiTY. These themes served as a foundation for conversations to foster leadership, innovation and collaboration within the AFCEA community.
Attendees were given an opportunity to build relationships and strengthen networks among professionals in the Hampton Roads area. With an exquisite selection of teas and an assortment of sweet and savory items, attendees enjoyed an atmosphere that encouraged open dialogue and shared learning.
The success of this event was made possible by the dedication of female members of the board of directors, whose efforts ensured a seamless and enriching experience for all who attended. Their commitment to fostering professional development and mentorship within the AFCEA community was evident throughout the gathering.
The event was a play on words to host a spring-time "Tea" event to collaborate with the Fall "Tee" time Golf Classic hosted annually. As AFCEA Hampton Roads continues to create spaces for meaningful engagement, events like Tea Time highlight the importance of coming together to exchange ideas and strengthen connections. With such a positive response from attendees, there is no doubt that future editions of AFCEA Tea Time will continue to provide a valuable forum for emerging and seasoned professionals alike. An added benefit was a small silent auction, the proceeds of which go to the Chapter's STEM Scholarships, awarded each spring.
