ABERDEEN CHAPTER CHAPTER - May 29, 2025

Former Commanding General Discusses Past Perspectives With Current Leaders

In May, the chapter hosted a sold-out luncheon featuring an engaging panel on past and future insights driving Army modernization. The chapter was thrilled to welcome Maj. Gen. Nick Justice, USA (Ret.), former commanding general of the Army Research, Development and Engineering Command and Aberdeen Proving Ground, and a well-respected figure in the community. Justice joined current leaders Maj. Gen. Patrick Ellis, director of the Command and Control (C2) Cross Functional Team, and Col. Shermoan Daiyaan, project manager, Mission Command, to discuss hot topics like transformation in contact, next-generation C2 and workforce development strategies.

The event was rounded out by a Small Business Spotlight presentation from local Aberdeen-based Veritech and followed by a special live-streamed presentation of the Army's Digital Capabilities Contracting Center of Excellence Unplugged event covering the new Army Open Solicitation.

In addition to the speakers and attendees, the chapter would like to thank Katherine Kage and Claire Heininger for their planning support; Clif Basnight for introducing the slate of speakers; and the wonderful staff at Water's Edge Events Center in Belcamp, Maryland, for their coordination.
