In September, the chapter held its annual STEM 5K Family Fun Run/Walk on the beautiful, historic trails of Minuteman National Park. The event, organized by the chapter's Emerging Leaders group and directed by Jaclyn Wilson, was an incredible success-thanks to Jaclyn's outstanding leadership, a dedicated team of volunteers and perfect fall weather.
The race drew an enthusiastic field of more than 100 runners and walkers, representing both government and industry across the Hanscom community. Participants of all ages-from toddlers to seniors-joined in the fun, making it a true family-friendly celebration of fitness, community and support for education.
Proceeds from the event benefited the chapter's Education Fund, which provides scholarships to students pursuing studies in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.
The competition was spirited, with impressive performances across the board. Shane Gagnon claimed the top overall spot with a time of 17:20, while Becca Gagnon led the women's division with a winning time of 21:34.
After the race, participants gathered for a lively post-race celebration, where top finishers received awards and several lucky runners took home exciting raffle prizes.
The chapter extends sincere thanks to all participants, volunteers and sponsors who helped make this event such a meaningful success, bringing the Hanscom community together for fun, fitness, and the future of STEM education.
