Six members of the chapter were recognized with the 2025 Distinguished Young Professional Award. The award honors early- to mid-career professionals who have demonstrated leadership, professional achievement and support of AFCEA's mission.
The Washington DC Chapter recipients are:

• Alexandra Manson, Kwaan Bear Technology
• Daniel Miller, eSimplicity
• Elana Rivkin, Amazon
• Jonathan Silverman, Leidos
• Michael Snyder, Comcast Government Services
In addition, two chapter members received the 2025 Emerging Leadership Award, which recognizes individuals who have shown leadership potential and meaningful contributions within their organizations and the AFCEA community.
The recipients are:
• Christina Mapa Thayer, Red Hat
• Lorenzo Paluzzi, Adaptavist Inc.
The chapter also received the 2025 Model Emerging Leaders Program Award. This recognition is presented to chapters that demonstrate sustained engagement and structured programming in support of developing young professionals.
These recognitions reflect the continued engagement of chapter members in AFCEA's leadership and professional development initiatives.
The chapter maintains an active calendar of events throughout the year, including its ongoing luncheon series featuring senior defense and technology leaders. In May, the chapter will host its annual Military IT & Cyber Leadership Awards, recognizing individuals and teams across the Department of Defense for contributions to mission-focused technology and innovation.
