SOUTHERN ARIZONA CHAPTER CHAPTER - Sep 27, 2007

In September Col. John Rose, USA, deputy commander for training, U.S. Army Intelligence Center, spoke about the Army's intelligence center of excellence at Fort Huachuca. The intelligence center trains intelligence professionals everyday, and the number of soldiers trained at Fort Huachuca has increased in recent years, Col. Rose said. In addition to training, the center is responsible for equipping and staffing the Intelligence Corps. Col. Rose said the information taught is current; lessons learned are adapted accordingly and the way soldiers are taught is also being re-evaluated. Some of the tools available include Distributed Command Ground Station-Army, which he said can be described as Google on steroids. Analysts need tools to correlate and make sense of all the data, and assessment and training are key, according to Col. Rose. He concluded by saying that every battalion and brigade commander will be brought to Fort Huachuca for a one-day course to learn how to use intelligence soldiers effectively, which helps the overall mission.
