SEOUL CHAPTER CHAPTER - Sep 17, 2007

Members and guests of the chapter attended a luncheon in September with Cindy E. Moran, chief, Center for Network Services, Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), as the featured speaker. To kick off her presentation, Moran presented a video titled "Shift Happens" to draw attention to how today's technological and social changes are influencing changes in DISA's business practices. DISA is developing new approaches to deal with its cost recovery challenges, Moran stated. And as budgetary pressures have constrained funding throughout the U.S. Defense Department, DISA is offering incentives to its customers while still managing to keep costs down, she added. Moran also talked about the Defense Information System Network (DISN) and her agency's goal to provide a totally converged and seamless network transport architecture that is secure and interoperable. She concluded her presentation by affirming that the way ahead for the DISN is an optimized infrastructure that supports the warfighter and the varied missions of the combatant commands.
