CAMP PENDLETON CHAPTER CHAPTER - Dec 18, 2007

In December the chapter conducted a joint luncheon with the San Diego Chapter in support of the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots drive. Price of admission was donation of a new toy and on hand to receive donations was Sgt. Edgar Villa, USMC, 4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division. The guest speaker was Col. Christopher O'Connor, USMC, commanding officer of Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. He spoke on command and control challenges currently affecting the Air Station. In particular he emphasized interoperability issues with local civilian agencies that occur in response to emergency situations such as the recent wildfires in Southern California, where the Air Station and elements of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing provided support to local and state agencies. Col. O'Connor also highlighted capabilities and activities the Air Station currently is providing to support current operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
