SOUTH FLORIDA CHAPTER CHAPTER - Mar 27, 2008 |
Technology for the Intelligence Community |
Brig. Gen. Richard T. Ellis, USA, was guest speaker at the chapter's March luncheon. As director of intelligence (J-2), Headquarters, U.S. Southern Command, Gen. Ellis shared his insight on what the intelligence community needs from both industry and the communications community. He urged corporate sponsors present to 'think outside the box,' encouraging them to provide the intelligence community with products it can use to gather all the information it must analyze and correlate-as timely as possible-make sense of it to enable commanders to make those "hard decisions." According to the general, "We still do not know what 'we do not know.'" He stated that, 'Policy needs to change regarding information sharing,' because right now, 'there are mixed results and it is sometimes slow and painful, but policy will follow if the technology problems are solved.' |
