THE HAGUE CHAPTER CHAPTER - Apr 23, 2008 |
Dutch Security Program Awareness |
In April, the chapter held its April luncheon meeting at the Military Intelligence and Security Service (MIVD), Netherlands Armed Forces. The guest speaker was Capt. Rob van Nuland, RNLA, senior inspector at the Military Intelligence and Security Service/Bureau for Industrial Security. Capt. van Nuland gave examples of security incidents and described the ABDO (General Security Requirements for Defense Orders and Projects). He discussed his organization's responsibilities and referred to the Dutch law on intelligence and security. Through this law, he explained, both the general (civilian) intelligence and security service, as well as the military intelligence and security service, were established. The MIVD's main areas of concern are sabotage, espionage, subversion and terrorism. Capt. van Nuland concluded with an explanation of security awareness programs and indicated that full management involvement is of absolute importance. |
