Chapter Fetes Returning Soldiers

In April, the chapter hosted the quarterly general membership meeting for the local chapters of AFCEA, the Association of the United States Army and the Signal Corps Regimental Association. The highlight was a presentation from soldiers of the 35th Signal Brigade, led by Col. John Baker, USA, brigade commander, who had recently returned from deployment in theater. VIPs in attendance were Brig. Gen. Jeff Foley, USA, commanding general, Fort Gordon, and Maj. Gen. Dennis Moran, USA (Ret.), Harris Corporation. The speakers included Lt. Col. Mike Plummer, USA, former commander, 67th Signal Battalion; Capt. Jeremy Simmerman, USA, assistant battalion S3; Capt. Julia Donley, USA, company commander, 67th Signal Battalion; 2nd Lt. Brandon Turner, USA, platoon leader; and Staff Sgt. Cedric Maybank, USA, section sergeant. Also during the luncheon, Joe Yavorsky, chapter president, and Bob Forrester, General Dynamics C4 Systems (GDC4S), presented the annual Lt. Gen. Douglas Buchholz Memorial Scholarship, endowed by GDC4S, to Staff Sgt. Richard Jackson, USAF.
