SOUTH FLORIDA CHAPTER CHAPTER - Aug 19, 2008

Keynote Address Focuses on Jointness and Warfighters

The chapter's August luncheon was held in conjunction with LandWarNet 2008 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Lt. Gen. Jeffrey A. Sorenson, USA, Army chief information officer/G-6, provided the keynote speech, discussing his first-year initiatives, his theater visits with deployed warfighters and the anticipated future of the current era of persistent conflict. Gen. Sorenson's focus areas include network service centers, cyber operations warfare, knowledge management and the program objectives memorandum 2010-2015. He stressed the need to constantly strive for jointness and to partner with industry while maintaining support for warfighters. Col. Mark Churchwell, USA, director, command, control, communications, computer systems and information, Headquarters U.S. Southern Command, and chapter president, thanked Gen. Sorenson and announced the chapter had made a contribution in Gen. Sorenson's name to Fisher House, an organization that provides support to members of the military and their families.
