GREATER MONMOUTH CHAPTER CHAPTER - Oct 16, 2008 |
New Fielding Concept Critical to Operational Readiness |
The chapter's guest speaker for the October luncheon was Col. Cris Boyd, USA, project manager, command posts. Col. Boyd discussed the Army's unit set fielding (USF) process and its importance to operational readiness. The USF process has five phases, including planning and reset, and plays a critical role in the fielding of brigade combat teams. Under this new fielding concept, the Army faces such challenges as the introduction of the system of systems and network-centric operations combined with increased personnel turnover and increased operational tempo. |
