THE HAGUE CHAPTER CHAPTER - Feb 04, 2009

The chapter's February meeting featured guest speakers from the Business Group Department for Information/Data Management and Technology, Netherlands Ministry of Defense (BG-IVENT/MODNL): Adriaan Blankenstein, director; Hans Loermans, senior advisor, Research and Innovation Center (RIC), IVENT; and Teus van der Plaat, head of the RIC. The BG-IVENT operates two command centers, three secure data centers and one back-up center. It provides services to the ministries of Foreign Affairs, Domestic Affairs and Justice. Loermans highlighted the measures the BG-IVENT has taken to reduce power consumption. Van der Plaat discussed the GSM network, a new, modern and military-owned private network that uses "pico-cells."
