In February, the chapter presented the 2008 AFCEA Science Teacher Award to Susan Hefner. The award will help with the cost of science supplies for Hefner's elementary school classes. Guest speaker Eric Petersen, major account manager, Polycom, presented a lecture titled "Unified Communications and Video Teleconferencing Challenges for the Defense Department and Industry." He discussed the history of videoconferencing and how the industry and military have overcome challenges to produce one of the most effective means of distance communication. |

 At the February meeting, Col. Elle presents a $1,000 check to Susan Heffner, the winner of the 2008 AFCEA Science Teacher Award. The award will enable Hefner to purchase science materials for her elementary school classes. |
