EXTENDED COVERAGE--ADD ONE MORE PHOTO

In January, the chapter joined forces with the Association of the U.S. Army's (AUSA's) Sunshine Chapter to co-sponsor TechNet Orlando. The symposium's theme was "C4ISR and Training Challenges of Rebalancing the Force." Dr. Jim Blake, Program Executive Office of Simulation, Training and Instrumentation, provided the event's welcome address, in which he emphasized the symposium's value as a forum to address the challenges the armed forces face in transforming the joint warfighter and in providing new technology to help fight the Global War on Terrorism. Jerry Stahl, chapter vice president for corporate affairs, and Jim Taylor, AUSA, served as general chairs for the event, and Fred Eisele, chapter vice president for programs, served as the program's technical chair. Keynote speakers included Lt. Gen. David P. Fridovich, USA, director, Center for Special Operations, and Vice Adm. H. Denby Starling II, USN, commander, Naval Network Warfare Command. Maj. Gen. Dennis L. Via, USA, commander, Communications and Electronics Command Life Cycle Management Command, provided the C4ISR executive presentation, during which the general emphasized the challenges warfighters face daily. Gen. Via also outlined the contributions of C4I, training and testing. He shared that sophisticated intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance equipment has become key to the success of many units on the battlefield. The availability of arms, night vision technology, Global Positioning Systems and other technological advances have made the United States' enemies more lethal and harder to locate, the general noted. The panel sessions covered such topics as coalition warfighters, homeland defense and the Global War on Terrorism and how they are impacted by new technologies and business practices.
