GREATER MONMOUTH CHAPTER CHAPTER - Jan 15, 2009 |
Joseph Forino, product director for network operations at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, served as the featured speaker at the chapter's January meeting. Forino explained that the goal of network operations is to use information technology to give warfighters an advantage on the battlefield. Network operations also provide data products in the form of collections of mission data that are required to initialize battle command and other Army command, control, computers, communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems. This data includes the information required to enable end-to-end network centric connectivity and interoperability across the tactical Internet. Fornio shared that every unit with C4ISR equipment requires a network operations data load and training provided by network operations personnel. He also discussed future challenges, issues due to base realignment and closure, and future program opportunities. |
