The iWorks Scholarship awards one $2,500 scholarship to an exceptional spouse or child of a U.S. military service member who demonstrates strong potential for academic success in a STEM field.

This $2,500 award supports the recipient's continued higher-education journey and may be applied toward tuition at any accredited community college or four-year college/university. The scholarship is open to both undergraduate and graduate students.

Please note: The applicant's expected graduation date must not fall within the same calendar year the scholarship is awarded.

 

 

 

Eligibility

Applicants must meet all the following criteria:

 

  • Be the child or spouse of an active-duty U.S. Armed Forces service member or a Veteran.
  • Be enrolled at an accredited community college or four-year college/university.
  • Undergraduate applicants must be in their sophomore, junior, or senior year.
  • Graduate applicants must be pursuing a Master's degree.
  • Demonstrate strong academic performance and an aptitude for STEM subjects.
  • Maintain a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA and be in good standing with the college/university.
  • Must be majoring in a STEM-related discipline aligned with the mission of AFCEA.
  • Qualifying majors include:

Application Process

Applications must include the following materials: 

  • A completed application form
  • At least one letter of recommendation from a professor at the applicant's current institution
    • Recommenders must send their letters in pdf format via email to edfoundation@afcea.org
    • Applicants are responsible for coordinating submission with their recommender
  • A brief essay (250 words or less) describing financial need
  • Official transcript(s) reflecting all college-level coursework, including the Fall 2025 semester
    • If coursework in progress is not listed, applicants must submit registration documentation showing current enrollment
    • Transcripts must be submitted electronically through the applicant's school to edfoundation@afcea.org
    • If electronic submission is not possible, official documents must be mailed to the address below no later than May 1, 2026. Applications must be complete and include all required supporting documentation.
