In collaboration with Nightwing and The AFCEA Educational Foundation, Nightwing is seeking a scholarship recipient that aligns with their mission on advancing national security in the cyber intelligence community. The Nightwing Scholarship will award one $5,000 scholarship to an outstanding student pursuing a degree in Cyber Intelligence. This scholarship will be applied toward the student's ongoing higher-level academic education. Applicants must attend an accredited Community College or four-year college/university. The Nightwing Scholarship is available to undergraduate and graduate students.

Eligibility

 

  • Be enrolled in an accredited Community College or four-year college or University. Undergraduate students must be in their sophomore, junior, or senior year, or pursuing a Master's degree.
  • Be a well-rounded student who shows an aptitude for STEM subjects and excels in overall academic studies.  
  • Be in good standing with the college/university with a minimum 3.0 unweighted GPA.
  • Be majoring in a Cyber Intelligence degree program.
  • Qualifying STEM majors related to the mission of AFCEA and Nightwing include:
    •  Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security
    • Bachelors' Degree of Computer Science
    • Bachelors' Degree in Cyber Security Engineering
    • MS in Information Security and Assurance
    • MS in Applied Information Technology/Cyber Security
    • Cyber Intelligence and Security
    • Cybersecurity Risk Management
    • Intelligence Analysis
    • Artificial Intelligence

 

Application Process

Submissions must include the following: 

  • Completed Application: In addition to basic information, there are several short-answer questions. Applications open on October 1st.  
  • Official Transcript: with completed courses and grades including grades from the Spring 2024 semester. Submit electronically through school to edfoundation@afcea.org. If electronic submission of your transcript is not possible, please send official document to the AFCEA address listed below to arrive by the deadline date.
  • Letter of Recommendation: at least one letter of recommendation which must be from a professor at the school you are attending. Have your reference submit their letter of recommendation in pdf form via email to edfoundation@afcea.org.
    • It is your responsibility to communicate with your recommender to obtain the required letter when completing the application process.
  • Essay: A brief essay, in 250 words or less, describing financial need.

 

Official transcripts reflecting all college-level study will also be required by the November 30, 2024 deadline date — electronic submission preferred.  If your transcript does not show your classes in progress, please submit documents showing current classes. 

If electronic submission is not possible, please send the official document to the AFCEA address listed below by November 30, 2024. Applications must be complete, including all supporting documentation.
