In June, the chapter hosted a successful luncheon highlighting the latest cyber threats the community faces. The event's keynote speaker was FBI Computer Scientist Tommy Armendariz, who shared his extensive expertise on current cyber scams, the impacts and basic cybersecurity strategies. Attendees gained valuable insight into cyber criminals' techniques and actionable strategies to safeguard their organizations against ever-evolving cyber threats.

Andrew Hair, chapter president, expressed his appreciation to Armendariz for sharing his presentation, valuable insights and expertise on a topic of immense interest to everyone. Hair also mentioned that the attendees learned a great deal about the FBI's role in defeating cyber adversaries.

EL PASO CHAPTER - 12/16/2022
Guests attend the AFCEA El Paso Chapter Networking Happy Hour in October. The chapter hosted a networking event in October with over 40 business professionals in attendance.

The chapter board members and professionals from across the region gathered to enjoy refreshments and get reacquainted. "We are eager to have the chapter back up and running after a hiatus due to COVID-19," said Chapter President Andrew Hair. "With Fort Bliss, the UTEP Aerospace Center, Western Technical College (WTC), and a burgeoning tech industry, this region is ripe with potential. It was great seeing some of El Paso's leaders come together to network and discuss future events and ambitions."

The entire southwest region is a technology corridor rich with pioneers in cutting-edge fields such as 3D printing, defense manufacturing, aerospace, energy and artificial intelligence.
